This sudden acceleration was paired with a lack of adequate, functioning breaks to slow or stop the car’s movement. Ford vehicles primarily made between 2002 and 2010 have been implicated in these Ford acceleration problems. If it's the Platinum version it could be as harmless as a faulty noise canceling system. If it's an SE then it might be more serious. Either way my hybrid doesn't make any engine noise over tire noise unless I'm accelerating and pushing 3 KW on the gas engine and the electric motor is never audible over the tires unless I'm going less than 20MPH.
